London - Anthony Vaccarello has temporarily stepped away from his eponymous brand in order to turn his full attention to his new role as creative director for Yves Saint Laurent. The designer announced on Tuesday that he will be putting his women's wear label on hold for the moment, to focus on his creative director role.

The Belgian-born designer will not be showing his eponymous brand at Paris Fashion Week this season, but will still hit the catwalk during his debut show for Yves Saint Laurent this October. "This adventure has been amazing but I now feel the need to fully focus on this new project," said Vaccarello in a statement. His last collection for Anthony Vaccarello for now will be Fall 2016, which is currently available at selected retailers.

Vaccarello's own namesake brand was best known for its overtly sexual designs which included laced-up mini skirts and fitted, patent leather jackets. His new look for Yves Saint Laurent, which was first revealed online, was initially meant with mixed reviews. He was first appointed creative director at the Kering held label this April, after serving three years at Versus Versace.

He quickly worked his way up the ladder from consultant to creative director as Donatella Versace hailed his vision for the brand, which included embracing the "see now, buy now" business model. Following the brand's show last September, Versus Versace collections were immediately available for sale, a wise choice which undoubtedly contributed to a 17.5 percent spike in the company's revenues for 2015.

Vaccarello's first collection for Yves Saint Laurent will be unveiled in October, during Paris Fashion Week. Vaccarello will be one of three newly appointed creative directors to enjoy their debut with French fashion houses this season, joining the likes of Bouchra Jarrar for Lanvin and Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior.
