Fashion Design & Production Internship (m/f/d)

Help create #DAMUR AW27/SS28—from first sketch to fitting, sample and runway.

Berlin · Primarily on-site · 3–6 months · Mandatory study internship

About the Role

#DAMUR is a Berlin-based high-end fashion label connecting gender-neutral fashion with music, nightlife, performance and contemporary culture.

You will support the complete AW27 collection-development process: approximately 30% creative development and 70% practical sampling, fittings, technical development and production organisation. This is not a styling or observation internship.

A Professional Working Internship

This is a professional working internship—not a fashion-school class, observation placement or beginner sewing course.

We provide clear briefs, professional context, technical feedback and access to a real runway collection. In return, you must already be able to sew confidently, understand garment construction and contribute to practical collection-development work. We do not teach basic sewing or garment construction from the beginning.

You do not need to know every technique on your first day, but you must be precise, resourceful and prepared for hands-on work. You should be able to complete defined tasks, apply fit corrections and maintain organised technical information without waiting for every step to be taught or repeatedly explained.

What You’ll Do

  • Research silhouettes, materials, trims and construction techniques
  • Support sketches, technical flats and collection-development boards
  • Source and organise fabrics, trims, labels and sample materials
  • Draft or adjust patterns and help make toiles, samples and alterations
  • Prepare fittings, record measurements and update fit corrections
  • Create and update tech packs
  • Track samples, deadlines, sample makers and suppliers
  • Complete assigned sewing, alteration and preparation tasks on time
  • Keep materials, patterns, samples and technical information organised

You’re a Strong Fit If

  • You study fashion design, garment technology, pattern cutting or a related subject
  • You sew confidently and understand garment construction
  • You have practical pattern-cutting and fitting skills and can create technical flats
  • You understand measurements, tech packs and production terminology
  • You can complete defined technical tasks without step-by-step supervision
  • You work precisely, follow corrections and communicate early when blocked
  • You are comfortable with practical, repetitive and deadline-driven work
  • You care about construction quality and fit—not only the initial design idea
  • CLO3D, Gerber, Lectra, tailoring, upcycling, German, Polish or Mandarin skills are a plus

What You’ll Gain

  • Real responsibility within the development of an AW27 runway collection
  • Hands-on experience across design, sampling, fittings and production
  • Experience working with patterns, technical information, samples and deadlines
  • Direct professional feedback on construction, fit, precision and work quality
  • Portfolio-relevant work, subject to confidentiality

Practical Information

  • Location: Berlin, primarily on-site
  • Start: As soon as possible; the exact date is agreed with the selected candidate
  • Duration: 3–6 months
  • Eligibility: This must be a mandatory internship required by your university or a recognised study programme. Erasmus+ placements are welcome when they meet this condition
  • You must already have the right to complete an internship in Germany; we cannot provide employer visa sponsorship
  • Transport support: Your Berlin AB ticket or Deutschlandticket is fully covered
  • Studio benefits: Daily warm homemade lunch, La Marzocco espresso, snacks and drinks
  • Schedule: Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed for events; this will always be agreed in advance

How to Apply

Apply in English through FashionUnited by clicking “Apply.”

Upload your CV in PDF format and a selected 6–12-page portfolio in PDF format. Include clear examples of your sewing, pattern-cutting, toile or garment-construction work.

In the Motivation field, answer the following in a maximum of 300 words:

  1. Which practical skills can you already perform confidently: sewing, pattern cutting, toile making, alterations, fitting preparation or creating tech packs?
  2. Which technical skill is currently your weakest, and what are you doing to improve it?
  3. State your earliest possible start date, how long you can stay (3–6 months), and confirm that this is a mandatory study internship.

No formal cover letter is required. We want to understand which practical skills you can already contribute and where you still need to improve. Please answer all three questions directly.
