British footwear specialist Dr. Martens has named Stéphane Goudard as the new general manager of its French business. Goudard took up the role permanently from November 1, having served on an interim basis since August 2026.

To the position, he brings a “strong commercial pace and a deep understanding of the French market during a demanding period for the business”, the company said. Dr. Martens added that the appointment reflected an ongoing effort to nurture and promote internal talent.

This sentiment was emphasised by Mike Stopforth, the brand’s chief commercial officer, who said his experience working with Goudard so far has clearly shown the executive’s expertise. “It is this, combined with the strength of the in-market team, which gives me real confidence in our ability to unlock the long-term potential of the Dr. Martens brand in France,” Stopforth added.

The appointment comes as Dr. Martens continues to double down on its largest EMEA markets, where the company has prioritised growing its full-price mix for FY27, including France.

Goudard brings to his regional role experience in senior sales leadership roles at Levi Strauss & Co., Esprit and Eden Park, with a background spanning wholesale, marketplace and franchise. He joined Dr. Martens in 2019 as head of sales for France and has since been credited with leading the French team through key milestones, including the opening of the Le Marais Brand Centre.
