J.Jill appoints Kimberly Wallengren as chief marketing officer The US womenswear retailer J.Jill has announced the appointment of Kimberly Wallengren as senior vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO), effective April 27, 2026. This leadership addition is designed to support the next phase of growth for the company through the evolution of brand positioning and expanded customer reach.
The appointment consolidates the brand, creative, and marketing functions under a single executive leader. Wallengren will report directly to the US company president and chief executive officer (CEO), Mary Ellen Coyne.
“We’re excited to welcome Kimberly to J.Jill as we focus on expanding brand awareness and growing our customer file,” Coyne stated. She noted that Wallengren possesses a proven ability to translate consumer insights into impactful campaigns, which will be critical for driving long-term growth.
Strategic expansion of customer base
Wallengren joins the retailer from the US luxury brand Coach, where she most recently served as vice president of marketing for North America. During her tenure at Coach, she was instrumental in evolving the brand’s positioning to resonate with a more diverse audience.
Her previous experience includes leading initiatives across digital platforms and gaming environments, such as The Sims 4 and Roblox. She also spearheaded a partnership between Coach and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Before her time at Coach, Wallengren served as the head of marketing for the US brand American Eagle (AE) sustainable premium denim line, AE77. She has also held various leadership roles at the German sportswear brand Adidas and the US athletic label New Balance.
Focus on brand momentum
The new CMO expressed her enthusiasm for joining the company during a pivotal period. Wallengren indicated her intention to work closely with Coyne to build momentum and create experiences that inspire customers across all touchpoints.
J.Jill, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), continues to refine its executive structure to deepen consumer engagement. Wallengren holds a bachelor of science from Boston College.
The company expects the integration of creative and marketing leadership to streamline its efforts in attracting new audiences while maintaining the loyalty of its existing core customer base.
