US retail group Macy’s, Inc. (Macy’s) has announced the appointment of Alexandre Choueiri as the chief executive officer of its luxury beauty retailer, Bluemercury. Choueiri will join the company on August 3, 2026, reporting directly to Olivier Bron, the chief executive officer of Bloomingdale’s.

In this new role, Choueiri will lead the overall business and growth strategy for Bluemercury. The executive will partner closely with the existing leadership team to enhance the brand’s authority in prestige beauty and unlock long-term expansion opportunities.

Global beauty expertise

Choueiri brings more than 25 years of global luxury beauty experience spanning North America, Europe and Asia. Most recently, the executive served as chief executive officer and president for the Americas at French luxury group Kering Beauté. In that position, Choueiri led the largest region for the company, strengthened the position of Creed in luxury fragrance and helped launch new fragrance brands for labels including Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga.

Prior to Kering Beauté, Choueiri spent more than two decades at French beauty corporate L’Oréal in a series of leadership roles. These positions included serving as the global president of Ralph Lauren Fragrances. Earlier in the career of the executive, Choueiri worked as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company in France and Australia.

Strategic momentum for retailer

“As we welcome Alex to Macy’s, Inc. I want to thank our Bluemercury colleagues for their strong focus and execution over the past year,” said Bron in a press statement. “Their progress against our strategy, including driving consistent growth in dermatological skincare, color and fragrance has strengthened Bluemercury’s position as a trusted destination for prestige beauty.”

Bron added that Choueiri is a proven global leader with deep beauty expertise and a record of leading complex global organizations. The chief executive officer noted confidence in the ability of Choueiri to build on the momentum of the brand and lead the next phase of growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Choueiri stated: “I am honored to join Bluemercury at such an exciting time in its evolution. Bluemercury has earned a loyal following by combining an elevated assortment with personalized service and a highly engaged team culture.”
