Nate Smith to lead Tilly's; Hezy Shaked transitions to executive chairman

Tilly’s, Inc. has announced a leadership transition, with Nate Smith appointed as the company's new president and chief executive officer, effective August 18, 2025. Concurrently, Hezy Shaked, co-founder, executive chairman, and current president and CEO, will transition into the role of executive chairman on the same date. Smith will also join the company's board of directors.

Commenting on the leadership changes, Hezy Shaked said, “On behalf of myself and the Board, we are very excited to have Nate join our leadership team, and I am looking forward to working closely with him as he transitions into Tillys.” Shaked added, “We believe Nate’s combination of robust industry experience, core values, and strategic vision will help revitalize our brand and drive further improvements in our business during this important time.”

Nate Smith has served as CEO of Marolina Outdoor, Inc. since September 2024. Prior to that, he held the position of president, Americas, at Boardriders, Inc. from June 2017 to April 2024. His extensive background also includes roles at Oakley, Inc., where he served as vice president/general manager, North American Wholesale from September 2015 to June 2017, and as vice president, Oakley Defense from July 2012 to June 2017. Smith’s career also features executive positions at IPATH Footwear, MV Transportation, Inc., and Patagonia, Inc., following an eight-year tenure in the United States Navy.

Commenting on his new role, Smith stated, “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a company like Tillys. Tillys has had a strong track record of success over its 43-year history, and I am excited to work with Hezy, the Board and the team to revitalize and build upon that history.”
