Sharmistha Dubey appointed to board of directors at The RealReal

US online marketplace for authenticated resale luxury goods The RealReal has appointed Sharmistha Dubey to its board of directors, effective November 3, 2026.

Dubey previously served as chief executive officer of US technology company Match Group.

Appointment strengthens governance and technology expertise

Chair of the board at The RealReal, Karen Katz, welcomed the appointment.

“We are pleased to welcome Shar to The RealReal’s Board,” Katz stated. “She brings a thoughtful, strategic perspective and a strong commitment to governance that will further strengthen our Board as we guide the company through its next chapter.”

Dubey holds over two decades of executive experience across product innovation and digital consumer business development. During her tenure as CEO of Match Group, she oversaw digital platforms including Tinder, Hinge, Match and OkCupid; earlier positions included serving as president, chief operating officer of Tinder, and president of Match Group Americas.

Currently, Dubey serves as chair of the board of directors of industrial technology firm Fortive Corporation, alongside director roles at South African multinational Naspers Limited and Dutch investment group Prosus N.V.

Focus on scaling luxury resale and artificial intelligence

The executive addition arrives as The RealReal focuses on scaling its technology-driven luxury resale platform and advancing its digital infrastructure.

President and CEO of The RealReal, Rati Sahi Levesque, highlighted the strategic value of the appointment.

“Shar is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of building and scaling some of the world's most recognized consumer technology platforms,” Levesque noted. “Her deep expertise in digital innovation, consumer engagement and global growth will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our leadership in luxury resale, leverage AI to transform our business and pursue the significant opportunities ahead.”

Dubey commented on joining the circular commerce platform: “The RealReal has built a differentiated platform at the intersection of luxury, technology and the circular economy.
