US luxury brand St. John, owned by Shanghai-based luxury group Lanvin Group, has appointed Humberto Leon as creative director.
Leon co-founded retail concept Opening Ceremony with Carol Lim in 2002. From 2011 to 2019, the duo served as creative directors of French fashion house Kenzo, where they introduced a contemporary identity to the brand. Prior to joining St. John, Leon served as creative director of global girl group Katseye, managing the visual identity and image of the music group.
Appointment of Leon marks a new direction for St. John, which aims to build on its nearly 65-year heritage while introducing a fresh perspective to its core offering, including knitwear, sportswear and jewelry.
The partnership reflects a shared California sensibility, respect for craftsmanship and a focus on garments that balance aesthetic appeal with comfort.
