TMU graduate and Project Runway Canada finalist Curtis Matysek returns to alma mater

Fashion designer Curtis Matysek, a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), has been named a finalist on the upcoming season of Project Runway Canada, the university reported. Matysek, who completed TMU’s Fashion Design program in 2019, will compete on the national reality competition that showcases emerging Canadian design talent, according to Toronto Metropolitan University's website.

During his time at TMU, Matysek earned industry recognition for his innovative approach to sustainable fashion and technical design. The school said his Project Runway Canada appearance highlights the quality of TMU’s fashion education and its emphasis on creativity, craft and practical skills preparation.

Matysek said the opportunity offers a platform to elevate his design voice and engage a wider audience as he navigates the early stages of his professional career. His work is expected to reflect personal influences, sustainability priorities and contemporary design perspectives.
