Boot Barn net sales climb 15.1 percent in second quarter
US western and workwear retailer Boot Barn Holdings, Inc. (Boot Barn) has reported a 15.1 percent increase in net sales to 581.80 million dollars for the second quarter ended September 26, 2026. Consolidated same store sales rose 1.4 percent, supported by a 1 percent increase across retail stores and a 5.2 percent uptick in e-commerce.
Gross profit for the quarter reached 216.50 million dollars, or 37.2 percent of net sales, compared to 184.10 million dollars, or 36.4 percent of net sales, in the prior-year period. The 80 basis-point expansion in gross profit rate was supported by lower freight costs, tariff refunds, and product margin expansion, partially offset by occupancy and distribution expenses.
Net income rose to 52.50 million dollars, or 1.73 dollars per diluted share, representing a 26.3 percent increase from 1.37 dollars per diluted share in the prior-year period. Excluding a 0.05 dollar per share benefit from tariff refunds, earnings per diluted share gained 22.6 percent.
Expansion and operational performance
The retailer opened 19 new stores during the period, bringing its total footprint to 584 locations. Operating income grew to 70.20 million dollars, representing 12.1 percent of net sales compared to 11.2 percent in the second quarter of the previous year.
Boot Barn chief executive officer, John Hazen, noted that new stores continued to outperform initial revenue projections. “We are pleased with our second quarter results, as continued revenue growth and merchandise margin expansion contributed to a 26% increase in earnings per diluted share,” Hazen stated.
Hazen added: “Looking ahead, we are excited about the holiday season and the work our teams have done to prepare, including refreshed merchandise assortments, improved in-store presentations, and a significantly expanded national marketing campaign.”
For the six-month period ended September 26, 2026, net sales rose 16.4 percent year-over-year (YoY) to 1.18 billion dollars, while consolidated same store sales climbed 3 percent. Net income reached 122.60 million dollars, or 4.02 dollars per diluted share.
