CLO Virtual Fashion acquires digital materials provider Swatchbook
CLO Virtual Fashion, the parent company of 3D fashion design software CLO, has acquired Swatchbook, a digital materials solutions provider. Through the takeover, CLO said it is now positioned “as the largest digital fabric database company in the world”.
The deal between the two companies builds on an existing relationship that the duo first established in 2017. Now, Swatchbook, which serves clientele across North America, Europe and Asia, will join CLO’s own teams based in Los Angeles, the US; Dongguan, China; and Bengaluru, India.
Swatchbook will merge with its counterpart’s Materials division to ensure a seamless transition and joint expansion of digital fabric offerings. This division will be overseen by Swatchbook’s founder and chief executive officer, Yazan Malkosh.
In a statement, Simon Kim, chief executive officer for CLO Virtual Fashion, said the acquisition represented “a significant leap forward for both companies and unlocks tremendous potential”. Kim added: “Our shared vision to accelerate 3D implementation in the fashion industry makes this union particularly powerful."
Meanwhile, Malkosh said Swatchbook was “confident that this acquisition will provide even greater value to our users and clients”. Malkosh continued: “CLO's resources, commitment to innovation, and industry expertise aligned perfectly with our mission and vision at swatchbook, and we are incredibly excited to now drive the future of fashion together."
Terms and financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
