Founder of Antthony Design Originals files federal lawsuit against QVC & HSN
Antthony Mark Hankins, founder and designer behind Antthony Design Originals, has filed a federal lawsuit against QVC and HSN following the “the abrupt and unjustified” termination of a long-standing retail partnership.
The case, which was filed on February 11, sees the plaintiff, Hankins, seeking 30 million US dollars following the end of a 31-year business relationship in August 2025. According to a filing on Law.com, the complaint alleges breach of contract and discriminatory treatment, claiming the companies continued to use Hankins’ image without authorization through January 2026.
The lawsuit also includes claims of defamation and tortious interference, and alleges discriminatory practices such as limiting Hankins’ on-air exposure outside of Black History Month and using coded language when referring to Black customers.
In a statement, Hankins argues that he has spent the past three decades building his brand on creativity, integrity, and a strong commitment to his audience before the retail partnership ended. The lawsuit aims to protect his business interests, safeguard his legacy, and uphold the principles on which his company was founded.
“This decision was not made lightly,” said Hankins in a press release. “It is about standing up for the values my brand was built on, protecting my legacy, and ensuring that fairness and accountability matter — especially for creators who have given decades of their lives to their work.”
Hankins emphasised that he will continue to prioritise transparency and professionalism while the legal proceedings are underway. “I am deeply grateful for the support, love, and trust of my community,” he added. “My commitment has always been to creativity, integrity, and fairness, and I remain focused on moving forward with purpose.”
Updates regarding the case and any legal proceedings will reportedly be provided through legal counsel as appropriate.
