Only 27 percent of delivery companies state delivery date before checkout

Research by US delivery software company FarEye reveals that only 27 percent of logistics and delivery companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) inform customers of the expected delivery date before checkout. At the same time, 43 percent offer same-day or express delivery. FarEye presented the research findings during a meeting in Amsterdam.

For customers, reliability is more important than speed. Of the more than 500 executives surveyed in the logistics and delivery sector, 63 percent cite reliability as the most important factor for customers. Only 11 percent consider speed to be the most important factor.

Costs per delivery rise by 9 percent

At the same time, delivery costs are increasing. Of the companies surveyed, 96 percent report higher costs per delivery. On average, these costs rose by 9 percent compared to last year. For 76 percent, delivery costs increased at least as much as revenue.

According to Kushal Nahata, CEO and co-founder of FarEye, companies need to gain greater insight into their carrier networks and the total cost per delivery. Furthermore, they must offer customers clearer and more reliable delivery promises.

FarEye develops delivery management software, which is used by retailers and online stores, among others.
