Beni, a browser extension for Chrome and Safari that encourages shoppers to buy second-hand fashion, launched its new Beni iOS App today.
The secondhand search engine also rolled out new features and functionalities to its platforms and announced a series of new partnerships with resale platforms Poshmark, ThredUp, Grailed, Kidsy, and Out&Back, as well as brand-owned resale programs, including Patagonia's WornWear and Treet-powered resale sites including Girlfriend Collective, DÔEN, and CUTS.
"To make resale the norm, we aim to meet shoppers where they already shop and show them relevant resale alternatives," commented Sarah Pinner, CEO of Beni, in a statement. "Our work with Vestiaire Collective, The RealReal, and eBay, along with our newest partners, means unrivaled access to resale deals for our users. Beni is not only reshaping the landscape of secondhand shopping; it's evolving into the premier gateway to a world where purchasing used is as effortless as buying new."
The announcement comes as Beni continues to aggressively grow following its launch in 2021, teaming up with over 50 partners and aggregating close to 80 percent of all online resale listings in its database. In late 2022, Beni secured 4 million dollars in a seed round led by Buoyant Ventures, with participation from XYZ Venture Capital, Chingona Ventures, and Starting Line Ventures.
Spearheading a new thrift movement, Beni offers unique access to a wide variety of secondhand items, as resale is predicted to outpace general clothing retail by nine times by 2027, with 60 percent of this growth from first-time resale customers. Available from February 6 onwards, the new Beni iOS App lets users search for and browse secondhand items while in stores or on the move.
In addition, the resale company also launched additional functionalities to its platform to further drive the secondhand shopping experience, including a mobile extension for more integration and accessibility, Beni Search to allow users to search their own database directly for certain brands and styles, Beni Alerts, a search alert to find particular styles according to brand, size, style and color, Save for Later, a virtual cart with items they want to purchase and a Referral Program, to earn credits for discounts and more.
"With these innovative features and strategic partnerships, Beni continues to lead the resale revolution by providing a seamless user experience," continued Pinner. "We're working across the retail industry to usher in a new era of circularity. We can end fast fashion, one resale purchase at a time."
