Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN), parent company of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People, opened a sprawling 600,000-square-foot fulfillment center for Nuuly, the company's women's clothing rental brand, in Raymore, Missouri.
The opening marks the second fulfillment and laundry center opened to serve Nuuly, with URBN investing 60 million USD in two phases of work over a five-year period to build the fulfillment and laundry facility.
"The opening of URBN's new facility is an exciting moment for the company, the Kansas City region, and our state," said Governor Mike Parson in a statement. "Missouri's economic strengths are continuing to result in significant investments from world-class employers. We're proud to see URBN beginning operations in Raymore and look forward to the lasting, positive impact it will provide for Missourians."
The newly opened center is predicted to create 750 jobs in the Kansas City area and will provide the company with the capacity it needs to triple its active subscriber base following an exceptionally strong year.
"Nuuly has experienced unprecedented growth and momentum, and we are excited to expand our operations to the Kansas City region to support our next phase of growth," commented David Hayne, chief technology officer of URBN and president of Nuuly, in a statement. "Opening our second US fulfillment center will allow us to grow well into the future."
The recently opened facility represents a state-of-the-art fulfillment center equipped with comprehensive laundering and garment modification facilities, allowing Nuuly to enhance and optimize its services nationwide. "Since our initial contact and conversations with URBN, we knew they would be great community partners," added Mayor Kris Turnbow. "We are excited about working with them and having them in Raymore."
Following its launch in 2019, Nuuly has become one of the leading clothing rental subscription services for women in the United States, boasting a collection of over 19,000 styles from upwards of 400 esteemed and modern designers, featuring brands like Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People.
"URBN's strategic choice to open its new facility in Missouri further underscores the state's unparalleled advantages," said Subash Alias, CEO of Missouri Partnership. The state's central location in the middle of the country, paired with its strong infrastructure and skilled workforce, makes it an ideal hub for businesses looking to expand their business operations effectively and efficiently, according to Alias.
