SMART (Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles) and the non-profit thrift store chain Goodwill have partnered with the Textile Recovery Summit for its 2026 edition.
Taking place February 23 to 25 in San Diego, California, the summit will be held alongside both the Plastics Recycling Conference and the Resource Recycling Conference for the first time, setting the stage for a collaborative convergence focused on textile circularity. The partnership consolidates three industry events in a single venue, connecting stakeholders from the textile, plastics, and resource recovery sectors to further drive advances in innovation, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable materials management practices.
The 2026 Textile Recovery Summit is set to address critical challenges in circular textile systems through expert-led programs on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), examining state-level frameworks reshaping brand accountability and compliance requirements. It will also cover California SB 707, analyzing the legislation's implications and preparing companies for regulatory adherence.
The summit also covers advanced recycling technologies, exploring chemical recycling, automated sortation, fiber identification, and material recovery innovations, while looking at global secondhand trade, understanding regulatory developments, and international market dynamics affecting textile reuse. Lastly, the summit will touch on AI-driven fiber sorting and review cutting-edge research in automated processing, imaging systems, and machine learning applications.
Participants who attend the summit will be able to access the three co-located industry conferences, connecting with more than 3,000 professionals from sustainability, policy, retail, fashion, and government sectors. The event is set to showcase over 250 exhibitors across 80,000 square feet of exhibition space, presenting the latest recycling technologies and circular economy solutions alongside extensive cross-sector networking opportunities.
