Japanese advertising and innovation firm Dentsu Group has showcased a collaborative project that bridges physical and digital fashion education, developed with Bunka Fashion College and immersive social platform Roblox. The initiative is part of Dentsu’s efforts to support future creative talent through its House of Creators programme, offering students practical experience in designing both real and virtual garments.
As part of the project, 21 students in Bunka’s newly established Virtual Fashion Course learned 3D design tools such as CLO and Roblox Studio to create clothing for both physical production and Roblox avatars. All students completed original collections and launched digital fashion items on the Roblox platform, with some designs sold in the creator economy.
Dentsu says the initiative reflects a broader shift in how digital and physical fashion intersect—especially among Gen Z and younger users, for whom virtual identity plays are part of everyday life—and aligns with forecasts that the digital fashion market could reach significant global scale by 2030.
The graduation projects were exhibited at Dentsu’s Tokyo headquarters and will also be displayed internationally, including at the Roblox Developer Conference later this year.
