Dick’s Sporting Goods has partnered with Uber Technologies to bring an offering of sportswear, footwear and sports gear to its on-demand delivery platform.

Beginning this week, over 800 Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy stores will be available to browse and purchase from on Uber Eats, enabling on-demand or scheduled delivery of various products.

To celebrate the launch, users of the app can receive up to 30 percent off select athletic goods and sport accessories, while Uber One members can enjoy additional perks, like free delivery fees on eligible orders.

The partnership expands on Dick’s digital footprint and underlines its belief “that speed and convenience is key to our omni-channel experience”, Scott Casciato, the retailer’s VP on omnichannel fulfillment and strategy, said in a statement.

“When those moments arise where new gear is needed, this partnership with Uber Eats extends our capabilities to give our athletes convenient shopping to get the products they need fast and in a way that is convenient for them,” Casciato continued.

For Uber, meanwhile, collaborating with Dick’s enables it to continue growing beyond food delivery, a mission that has been in place for over a year now, evidenced by its existing offering from fashion and beauty retailers like Allbirds, Kathmandu and Sephora.

Retail partnerships were said to have contributed significantly to Uber’s FY24 revenue growth of 20 percent year-on-year, with the company reaching 12 billion dollars over the period. Delivery trip growth, meanwhile, was up 15 percent.

Speaking on this latest deal, Uber’s head of retail for North America, Hashim Amin, said: “As people head outdoors this season, we’re excited to bring Dick’s Sporting Goods’ trusted selection right to their doorstep via the Uber Eats app. From last-minute yoga mats to hiking gear and backyard sports essentials, it’s all just a tap away.”
