New York-based designer Jason Wu has worked directly with the Pantone Color Institute, which provides colour trend forecasting and brand colour development services, to develop a specific grey colour that will be exclusive to his upcoming Grey Jason Wu line.

The sister label to Wu’s mainline, was named after the designers favourite colour, and this custom shade is a light tone of grey, comprising of 90 percent white with a hint of blue, which the designer states is the “perfect shade to live in”.

Grey Jason Wu launches in June and this signature hue of grey will be used for the brands packaging, labels and notecards, as well as on pieces in the upcoming collection. The label aims to speak to the girl looking for a “sense of whimsy and uncomplicated chic” in her wardrobe, and will feature Italian and Japanese fabrics in a range of feminine looks for everyday, year-round wear.

“We thought, ‘This is a collection named after a colour. It would be really great to work with Pantone on a custom shade,” Wu told WWD. “When you think about colours, Pantone is the standard. It’s something we use on a daily basis.”

Price points for the Grey Jason Wu line are expected to range from 295 dollars to 1,395 dollars.
