Macy's has built its fall 2026 fashion push around six American designers, launching exclusive limited-edition capsules from three established names and three younger labels as part of its seasonal Find Us at Macy's campaign.
The collection, called Celebrate American Designers, splits its line-up into what the retailer terms The Icons — Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan and Michael Kors — and The New Guard, comprising Jonathan Cohen, Sally LaPointe's LaPointe and Edvin Thompson's Theophilio. Each designer has produced a capsule available only at selected Macy's stores and on macys.com, where it is on sale now.
"This fall, we're celebrating the incredible mix of brands and fashion customers can discover at Macy's and showing how they can come together to create stylish, versatile looks for every part of their lives. Celebrate American Designers brings together some of the most iconic names in American fashion with an exciting new generation of designers, each bringing their own point of view to a limited-edition designer collection created exclusively for Macy's. It's a celebration of American style today and a chance for our customers to discover something truly special that they won't find anywhere else," Nata Dvir, Macy's chief merchandising officer, said in a statement.
Macy's is roughly two years into the Bold New Chapter turnaround plan chief executive Tony Spring set out in February 2024, which pairs the closure of about 150 underproductive stores with concentrated investment in 125 so-called Reimagine locations. Those stores grew comparable sales 2.7 percent in the third quarter of last year, which Spring attributed to upgraded merchandising, store design and service.
What each capsule covers
Hilfiger's contribution runs through cable knits, denim, chinos and varsity jackets, drawing on archival details. "Macy's is an iconic retailer that has played an important role in bringing fashion to generations of consumers," the designer said. "We share a deep connection to American style, so this collaboration feels especially meaningful."
The Donna Karan New York capsule centres on draping, fluid silhouettes and neutral tones. "I think as a woman, for women. I understand the body and how a woman moves through the world," Karan said. "Bringing Donna Karan New York to Macy's takes my design philosophy to another dimension, allowing more women to experience it."
Kors has assembled animal prints, fringing and polished separates. He described the tie-up as a return to familiar ground: "I've been working with the legendary retailer for over 20 years, and for this capsule I wanted to take all of the design touchstones that I've always loved and find new ways to interpret them."
Among the newer names, Cohen's capsule leans on print and colour, while LaPointe has produced monochromatic sets, tactile fabrics and embellishment. Theophilio's collection references Thompson's childhood in Jamaica. "Every piece in this collection carries a part of where I'm from, the airbrush art and graffiti culture I grew up around helped shape it," Thompson said. "Celebrating that alongside Macy's is a full-circle moment for me."
The retailer will stage a one-day event, Celebration Saturday, at selected stores on September 26 from 1pm to 5pm, combining in-store styling, gift-with-purchase offers and entertainment. Participating locations are listed on macys.com.
