To most people, working in fashion and retail sounds exciting, fun and even glamorous. Because of this, the ever-evolving fashion industry continues to attract top talent from all fields. Wondering which fashion companies you should send your job application to? Every year, professional networking and job recruiting sites such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor list the most sought-after companies to work for based on employee reviews and through analyzing user data. Nowadays, job candidates seek to apply to organizations that offer more than just an attractive salary. Instead, they also value factors such as work-life balance, recognition from senior management and good communication among colleagues. From these annual rankings, FashionUnited has selected a few of the most favorable US fashion companies to work for in 2019.

Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom Inc

The retail landscape has experienced tremendous upheaval but Nordstrom Inc. has been able to stay ahead through its investments in digital technology. According to Forbes, in 2018, its full online off-price retail division, Nordstrom Rack had a 3.7 percent increase in sales. Employee reviews on Glassdoor stated reasons to work at Nordstrom Rack include dynamic company culture, supportive management and upward mobility. On the company website, staff place importance on growth from within the company and Nordstrom Rack as the ideal brand to start at because of the availability of both full-time and part-time positions.

Lululemon

Canadian Yoga-inspired athletic apparel retailer, Lululemon athletica, has expanded internationally since 1998 and successfully into the world of e-commerce. In recent years, Lululemon has continued to rank high as a top fashion company to work for, placing at No.9 on Forbes “The Best Places to Work in 2019.” With a 4.2 out of 5 rating on Glassdoor, employees enjoy working at Lululemon and praise the inclusive company culture, great benefits and training for personal and professional development.

J. Crew

With headquarters in New York City, J. Crew is a multi-brand retailer which was founded on the “New England Preppy” style. Today, it also includes the more bohemian label, Point Sur and sister brand Madewell. Working at the J. Crew Group, the company offers incentives such as bonuses and encouraging training programs for staff according to Glassdoor. A forward-thinking marketing and business philosophy, fun job environment and a close-knit team are other attractive traits that have placed J. Crew on Time.com’s annual list of top 100 US companies.

Nike

Ranked No.89 on the Fortune 500 list, Nike has driven its sustainable innovation and social targets in recent years. On the company’s website, Nike stated in 2016 its vision of sustainability was to transform manufacturing by contributing to a low carbon and “closed-loop” future. In addition, Nike consistently strives to unleash human potential and this can be seen by Glassdoor’s staff ratings. 78 percent of employees would recommend the company to a friend, 90 percent approve of the CEO and many rave about company benefits such as vacation days and competitive pay. A current employee working in technology said that they feel empowered to own and drive initiatives and that Nike strongly values sport, fashion and innovation.
