Beginning Thursday May 12 to May 14, Saskatchewan Fashion Week will be taking place at the Sound Stage where twenty Canadian fashion designers will show original men's and women's collections. The first ever Saskatchewan Fashion Week began in 2012, and since then over 60 designers have shown at the event, most of whom are based in Saskatchewan.

Ticket sales have outpaced sales further than any other year. For events on May 13 and 14, tickets sold out six weeks before the event. More than 70 percent of the May 12 tickets sold out six weeks in advance. In 2015, 53 percent of ticket buyers were first time attendees to event, showing that there is an interest and demand for Saskatchewan Fashion Week.

In efforts to expand diversity, they have invited three First Nation design labels to be seen this year including PlayBuffalo, SheNative, and Little Bow-Tihk.

Saskatchewan elevating Saskatchewan Fashion Week to be more high profile

Another perk to Saskatchewan Fashion Week for designers is the Saskatchewan Fashion Forward Designer Award presented by Dr. Roberta McKay and Mr. Elmer Brenner which awards designers 7500 dollars to grow their business. The award is judged by three industry leaders and creative entrepreneurs and recognizes one outstanding runway designer.

There is also buy now model to the show where ticket holders can buy and purchase merchandise from previous and current collections in the Designer Pop-Up Shop located at The Sound Stage open from 6 p.m. to midnight.

To help elevate the profile of Saskatchewan Fashion Week, they will be live streaming the event on saskfashionweek.com and also making it accessible on Fashionmagazine.com from May 12 - 14 at 7p.m.

Saskatchewan Fashion Week was established in 2012 as an annual event and collaborative platform to influence the development and growth of creative entrepreneurship and the fashion and creative design industries in Saskatchewan.
