Tommy Hilfiger joins Spinnova consortium

US premium brand Tommy Hilfiger has become the newest partner of Spinnova, a Finnish fibre tech firm backed by Fashion for Good.
The company has joined Spinnova’s consortium, a model the firm introduced earlier this year to encourage fashion brands to back efforts in scaling its flagship fibre offering.
Aptly dubbed Spinnova, the textile is made of wood pulp or waste that forms a biodegradable, recyclable fibre through a chemical-free process.
By partnering with the producer, Tommy Hilfiger gains access to the fibre, and will therefore expand the application of the material across its different product categories, a press release stated.
In a statement, Spinnova’s senior commercial manager, Pedro Brito, said: “We are pleased to welcome Tommy Hilfiger to the Spinnova consortium.
“Their commitment to exploring materials pilots for sustainability aligns seamlessly with our mission to scale the availability of textile materials made with Spinnova fibre.”
