Acne Studios opens new New York store
Swedish fashion brand Acne Studios has opened a new store in New York City’s Meatpacking District, strengthening its physical retail presence in the US.
Located near the High Line and opposite the Whitney Museum of American Art, the new store joins the brand’s existing New York flagship on Greene Street.
Designed by creative director Jonny Johansson and Swedish architecture studio Halleroed, the store uses pink granite, stone and mirrored surfaces, alongside leather seating by designer Max Lamb. The interior intends to combine an open layout with more intimate areas designed to encourage customers to spend time in the space.
The location also features an Acne Paper library, with a rotating selection of art and fashion publications and the latest edition of the brand’s magazine. Positioned to be seen from the street, the library is intended to motivate passers-by to stop, sit and browse.
The opening adds to Acne Studios’ global store network and reflects the brand's ongoing focus towards creating retail spaces that connect with their surrounding locations.
