The Webster is one lucky retail chain. Where other multi brand department stores have struggled during the pandemic, they are one of the few who has actually weathered the storm and are now transcending it. The Webster will be opening its first store outside of the U.S. in Toronto, marking their eighth store overall. The news was reported by Business of Fashion.

While The Webster is a luxury store and the overall luxury market is expected to contract by 23 percent this year, The Webster is expected to see sales growth between 10 and 20 percent for 2020. In September, the company saw their most successful sales month in the company’s history.

What’s the Webster’s secret? Their private client team is considered top notch. Private appointments are considered the bread and butter of The Webster’s business. Stylists are even able to pre-order runway looks and couture pieces for clients. The personalized approach to shopping has been a tremendous benefit to the company.

In addition to Toronto, The Webster also has stores in Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Aspen, Colorado. In addition to their above-and-beyond customer service approach, the brand also has e-commerce, but compared to many of their competitors in 2020, they make brick-and-mortar and clienteling their focus.
