Uniqlo to open World Trade Center store in fourth New York launch of 2026
Uniqlo will open a store at 185 Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan on Friday, with doors opening at 10am ET. The World Trade Center location is the fourth New York City store the company has added this year.
The opening forms part of a programme of 11 US stores Uniqlo confirmed for 2026, which also includes New York sites in Williamsburg, Union Square and on Bryant Park, flagship stores in Chicago and San Francisco, and locations in Boston, Seattle, Maryland and Washington, DC. The retailer operated 78 stores in the US when it set out that plan, against a target announced in 2023 of 200 North American stores by the end of 2027.
North America has become one of the clearest growth drivers for parent company Fast Retailing. In the nine months to May 31, group revenue rose 17.1 percent to 3.07 trillion yen, with the company citing recent openings in New York, Chicago and Boston among the reasons its North American business delivered double-digit revenue and profit growth. Fast Retailing has raised its full-year outlook three times this financial year, while flagging US import tariffs as a continuing headwind.
The new store carries the full LifeWear line-up for men and women. It also houses UTme!, the brand's in-store print-on-demand service for T-shirts and tote bags, which will offer designs made with artist Lauren Martin and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
The site becomes the 12th US location for Re.Uniqlo Studio, the repair and resale arm of the company's circularity programme. Services include on-site mending such as stitching and button replacement from five dollars, embroidery from a menu of more than 50 designs starting at ten dollars, a donation box for unwanted Uniqlo garments handled through non-profit partner Covenant House, and collection of unwearable clothing for recycling into raw materials.
Uniqlo has scheduled three days of opening promotions running to September 27, led by Taiko drum performances at 9:45am ET, before doors open, and repeated at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm ET on Friday and Saturday. The first 300 customers each day receive a branded knot bag, the first 300 purchasers a travel case, and the first 50 app members a gift card from patisserie Lady M; discounts apply to items including the Uniqlo : C sweatshirt and sweatpants, JW Anderson straight jeans and the cashmere crew neck sweater.
Uniqlo, founded in Hiroshima in 1984, operates more than 2,500 stores worldwide and is the largest of eight brands in the Fast Retailing group, which reported sales of approximately 3.4 trillion yen in the financial year ended August 31, 2025.
