London - Artist and philanthropist Pharrell Williams never remains still for very long. Just weeks after launching the highly anticipated ,limited edition Hu NMD sneakers, comes the launch of Hu - an apparel and footwear collection which aims to explore "humanity and celbrates cultural diversity around the world."

"Hu is short for human – human being, human race, humankind," said Pharrell in a statement. "But Hu, itself is also a reference to color. As human beings, we all have a color. We all look different, we all speak different languages, but we’re all connected." The new footwear and apparel collection is said to build on the Hu NMHD sneakers launched in July and sees Williams working with the German sportswear brands to create a diverse range of full-colour footwear and activewear.

The 19 piece collection, which includes 5 footwear styles, was designed to celebrate the spirit of equality, acceptance, co-existence and understanding among humans and features flags, stripes, and translations of the phrase 'Human Race' in English, French, and Japanese in a simple palette of red, white, blue and grey.

The apparel will offer contemporary women's and men's activewear which meshes Williams's vision of connecting people and adidas's latest innovations. Key items include the full-zip jacket and half-zip anorak as well as the iconic adidas Originals Firebird track jacket and pants, which have been updated with reflective stripes.

"I play for the human race," said Williams on the collection. Through the brand launch, Hu aims to shine a spotlight on communities around the world by sharing stories and traditions from various cultures. "I am so thankful to the people of MHA Nation who shared their journey and experiences with me. I want to use my platform for people to tell their stories and help empower people no matter where they’re from. By understanding humanity’s past, we will build a bridge to its future."

The collection is set to launch globally on September 29 in selected Adidas stores.
