Brock Collection wins CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

Design duo Kristopher Brock and Laura Vassar of Brock Collection were named as the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2016 winners at the thirteenth annual CVFF gala dinner at Spring Studios.

As winners womenswear brand Brock Collection will receive 400,000 dollars, aimed to assist them in pursuing their design plans, as well as a year of mentoring. The winners will meet regularly with an assigned business mentor based on their specific needs for business expertise and resources.

The competition also named two runners-up, New Orleans-based eyewear line Krewe du Optic and celebrity favourite womenswear designer Adam Selman, both will each receive 150,000 dollars.

The CFDA announced the finalists, which also included Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area, Chloe Gosselin, Ji Oh, Morgan Curtis of Morgan Lane, Maryam and Marjan Malakpour of Newbark, Laura Chandler and Joshua Cooper of Rochambeau and Chris Stamp of Stampd, in June. Since then each designer has spent months participating in a series of challenges, including taking part in an A-list fashion show at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Winners and runners-up were chosen by the competition’s judging committee, which included Ken Downing, Mark Holgate, Steven Kolb, Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg, Marcus Wainwright, David Neville and Jenna Lyons.

“Each year, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund identifies the most promising designers who are creative and have great business potential,” said CFDA president and chief executive Steven Kolb. “This year is no exception.”

Commenting on their win, Brock Collection tweeted: “We're so unbelievably honoured, thank you @voguemagazine, @cfda and everyone who has supported us along the way! love you all!!”

Founded 13 years ago, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund aims to cultivate the next generation of emerging American design talent, offering financial rewards and business mentorship. Since its inception, the initiative has granted 5.2 million dollars to over 30 design companies, including Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, The Elder Statesman, and Public School Derek Lam, Thom Browne, Rodarte, Tabitha Simmons and Eva Fehren.
