Sandal footwear brand Chaco has partnered with Fishwife, the female-founded and led tinned seafood company known for its bold branding and ethical sourcing, to create a mermaid inspired collaborative collection.
The partnership introduces a refreshed take on Chaco's signature Z/1 sandal, reimagined through Fishwife's vibrant visual language. The design features webbing in kelly green, beige, and cobalt blue, secured with a tan buckle and accented by one of Fishwife's iconic illustrations positioned on the interior heel strap.
The collaboration is rooted in shared values around sustainability and reflects Chaco's ongoing commitment to responsible production, utilising recycled plastic bottles in its webbing and offering long-term wearability through its ReChaco repair program. Similarly, Fishwife maintains a strong focus on sourcing from well-managed fisheries and certified sustainable aquaculture farms, making the partnership a natural alignment of purpose and aesthetics.
"We loved the creative spirit that Fishwife champions, which is something that we also prioritize at Chaco," said Kelsey Dunneback, Chaco Brand Manager, in a statement. "We're excited for people to make a statement in these whimsically designed sandals, whether they are adventuring locally or afar."
Inspired by Fishwife's bold color palette and distinctive branding, Chaco's updated sandal features a contemporary color-blocked design accented with signature details, including a mermaid badge and branded heel strap, for a playful yet polished finish.
"Since launching in 2020, we've been committed to bringing sustainability to the aquaculture space while championing individuality," said Becca Millstein, CEO and co-founder of Fishwife, in a statement. "When we were approached by Chaco, we felt that it was a seamless partnership that allows Fishwife to further enter the lives of modern day water and fish lovers on their daily journeys."
The exclusive style is now available for sale at Chaco's website and the Fishwife's site.
