British designer Stella McCartney made a poignant return to Paris Fashion Week this week with a heartfelt homage to Mother Earth and her mother. Staying true to her sustainable initiatives, the designer presented her Fall/Winter 2024 collection at Parc Andre Citroen with a manifesto that was read by Oscar-winning actors Olivia Colman and Helen Mirren. The manifesto, entitled ‘It’s about F*cking Time,’ sees McCartney sending a strong message from Mother Earth to the world as she continues to advocate for the planet.

The FW24 collection honors the distinctive 1970s fashion choice of her mother, Linda McCartney while showcasing the designer’s own fashion flair. The line-up, heralding a return to the essence of the Stella woman, included boldly structured womenswear defined by fluidity. The ready-to-wear collection saw the introduction of slouchy, double-breasted suits with pronounced shoulder padding, presenting formidable silhouettes complemented by luxuriously cocooning coats in soft pastel pinks and regenerative wool twill.

Drawing inspiration from her childhood surroundings, wool tweed fabrics incorporate diamond-shaped embellishments across aviator jackets and sophisticated trench coats. Breathing new life into her signature styles, Stella McCartney effortlessly blends masculine with feminine, evident in the collection’s Savile Row tailoring, traditional men’s trench coats, cozy knit sets, and sculptural silhouettes with sensual reveals. Knitwear firmly emerges as one of the collection’s focal points, with handcrafted rope details transforming into statement scarves and high-neck dresses crafted from regenerated cashmere, showcasing the designer’s vision of fashion-forward sustainability.

All throughout, McCartney’s mother’s influence permeated the collection, from the dramatic flair of flowing gowns with dramatic trains to the vibrant energy of embellished cocktail dresses and innovative patchwork denim. In addition, 90 percent of the ready-to-wear pieces from the FW24 collection were made using responsible materials, in line with Stella McCartney's steadfast commitment to ethical fashion. True to the brand's core values, the collection eschewed the use of leather, feathers, fur, and exotic skins, upholding a cruelty-free ethos
