London- US outdoor and apparel company Patagonia has launched Re\\\collection, a new, experimental collection created using as many recycled materials and textiles as possible.

The collection, which consists of ten different items for men and women, was produced with a wide variety of recycled materials, such as 100 percent recycled down, 100 percent recycled wool and 100 percent recycled polyester. In addition, the garments accessories, such as the labels, zippers and buttons were also made from recycled materials.

The Re\\\collection was especially created to be resourceful, as well as warm and functional and when they have reached the end of the customers use they can be recycled again, states Patagonia. The collection launch is Patagonia's latest step in creating garments which are fully sustainability and follows on from its use of recycled materials.

The recycled down in the collection is a mixture of 600-fill-power goose and duck down which has been reclaimed from used Patagonia items which cannot be resold and offers identical performance benefits to virgin down, says the company. Its recycled polyester is made from used plastic bottles, unusable manufacturing waste and worn-out garments, while its recycled wool is made from discarded wool sweaters that are shred down into usable fiber and mixed with recycled polyester and recycled nylon for durability.

"From the insulation to the outer materials — all the way down to the buttons and drawcords — this collection is an experiment in creativity and responsibility," says Miles Johnson, creative director of product design at Patagonia. The Re\\\collection includes men's and women's down jackets, shirts, vests, down pants as well as a skirt.
