Amazon is celebrating its 20th birthday on July 15 with a Prime Day sale, which the online retailer states will feature more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for its Prime members.

New and existing Prime members will be able to shop thousands of “lightening deals," with six of the popular ‘deals of the day’ receiving unlimited fast, free delivery. The sale, which starts at midnight and features new deals starting as often as every ten minutes, will be available to all Prime members in the UK, US, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria.

“Prime Day is a one-day only event filled with more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members around the globe. Members tell us every day how much they love Prime and we will keep making it better,” explains Greg Greeley, vice president Amazon Prime. “If you’re not already a Prime member, you’ll want to join so you don’t miss out on one of the biggest deals extravaganzas in the world.”

Christopher North, managing director at Amazon UK, added: “We’re offering Prime members thousands of deals on Prime Day. In fact, in the UK we are offering more than double the number of deals that we offered last Black Friday.

“Prime Day is the latest benefit for Prime members and you can expect us to add further benefits and features to this great service over time.”

To promote the event, Amazon UK is offering all UK customers the chance to become Prime members before the sale for 59 pounds for the first year, which will give them access to the sale as well as one-day delivery, a streaming video library and online storage for photos.
