Lids opens third Lids HD store in Los Angeles

Sportswear retailer Lids has opened a new store under its retail concept, Lids HD, in Los Angeles, California, marking its third Lids HD store to open date.

Short for 'Lids Hat Drop,' the new store is the physical version of an online concept developed and launched by the retailer in 2022. Offering all types of sportswear hats, from baseball caps to beanies, the new Lids HD store in Cerritos Mall will feature exclusive, limited-edition headwear drops and merchandise from local teams.

The store at 239 Los Cerritos Center measures 1,055 square feet and includes digitally driven features, such as screens showcasing Lids' campaigns, new products, and more. The store interior also features a mural by multimedia artist Joshua Vides.

To mark the occasion of the third Lids HD store opening in the US, the Lids Foundation, the charitable and philanthropic arm of Lids Sports Group, will match a percentage of all in-store purchases made at the Lids HD LA store from March 28 to March 30 to Goods Sports' "Restore Play LA Recovery Fund." 

"We're thrilled to support the opening of the new Lids HD store in Los Angeles, bringing an elevated shopping experience to the heart of the city," said Sarah Lim, executive director of the Lids Foundation, in a statement. "In light of the recent Palisades fires, we're committed to giving back to our community by donating a portion of our proceeds to Good Sports to support their youth sports programs and help rebuild stronger together."

The LA Recovery fund is set up to help provide sports equipment, apparel and footwear to LA-based youth who were impacted by the recent wildfires, the charity sits in line with Lids Foundation's wider mission to engage young people in local communities in healthier lifestyles. 

"Here at Good Sports, we understand that powerful and meaningful partnerships are the first step in creating real impact," said Christy Keswick, co-founder and president of Good Sports, in a statement. "We are grateful to have the Lids Foundation as a teammate to help us restore hope, build resilience, and make sure every child impacted by these wildfires has the chance to play, grow, and thrive."

The first exclusive hat drop at Lids HD LA, coinciding with the store's grand opening, is the Uniform Pinwheel 5950 (retailing for 49.99 dollars), featuring MLB teams' home and away jerseys, away colors, and wordmark on the front. The store will host several grand opening events this weekend from March 28 to 29, including showcasing local brand Supervsn, a special Lids HD LA pin drop, and refreshing agua fresca from The Cart Collective.
